2011 Christian Athlete of the Year Banquet Held - Barbara-Scott Kolb Wins Title
Late Monday night Argyle student Barbara-Scott Kolb received the 2011 Christian Athlete of the Year at the 22nd Annual Christian Athlete of the Year awards banquet held in March, 2011in Irving, Texas.
The recipient is chosen from high school athletes in Texas with this year having over 4000 nominations. Kolb received the evening’s last award to a standing ovation of over 1500 banquet attendees.
The presentation of the award was given by Gold Medalist Carl Lewis, ESPN/NBC Commentator Lewis Johnson, Olympic Champion Joe DeLoach, and founders of Lay Witnesses for Christ International Dr. Sam Mings and his wife Sharon. Included in Kolb’s acceptance speech, she thanked Coach Carlos Ratliff for his mentoring and training, as well as Argyle basketball Coach Steve Schmidt for rejuvenating her love of the game.
Next year, Kolb will be playing point guard for East Texas Baptist University.

2009 Christian Athlete of the Year Banquet Held

Aledo High School senior Leslie Harris was chosen as Sonic's Scholar of the
Week. She has achieved a 92.5 GPA and ranks 110th in her class of 355 students.
ln addition to being a 3-year starter on the varsity basketball team, Harris
volunteers at the local elementary school and is a youth group member at her
church. Congratulations to Aledo's Leslie Harris, Sonic's Scholar of the Week.

Whitney Hand Challenges Jason Terry to a 3-point Contest
Jason Terry of the Dallas Mavericks held a basketball clinic at Liberty Christian
H.S. Jason took on Oklahoma bound Whitney Hand in a 3-point contest. Whitney
made 8 out of 10 to win the 3-point contest. Jason gave her Dirk Nowitzki shoes
for her upset win. Jason spent over 2 hours teaching and signing autographs.
He was very personable and humble to all the young kids. Jason Terry a true
